Board Member

Donna Spellman has been a longstanding supporter of the Greenwich Commission on Aging and Wallace Center, dating as far back as the late 1990’s when she was employed at Family Centers. Her collaboration and work included sitting on committees to help spread awareness of services available to older adults in the Town of Greenwich, providing case management and social work services to those in need, being a source of referral, hosting Choices/SHIP days throughout town and much more.

In more recent years, while serving as the Executive Director at River House Adult Day Center, Donna collaborated with the Wallace Center to co-facilitate over 100 Dementia Friends training programs, co-chaired “Dementia Friendly Greenwich,” co-chaired “Caregiver Circle” and sat on numerous committees to continue to spread awareness of services available to aging adults in Greenwich.

Currently, Donna facilitates a monthly Alzheimer’s Association Caregiver Support Group onsite at the Wallace Center, and recently became certified as a Choices Counselor, facilitating Medicare Counseling sessions on behalf of the Wallace Center.  Donna is an experienced grants writer, special events planner and is committed to continuing to raise money and awareness that supports older adults. Donna has a Master’s Degree in Counseling, is a Certified Dementia Practitioner, has a Certification in Aging and is a Certified Wellness Coach specializing in Older Adults. She is also the founder and Executive Director of 99-Days Inc, a non-profit whose mission is to raise awareness, education and support for people living with dementia by hosting running and healthy living events.

Over the past 10 years, Donna has personally run 99 consecutive 5K's from Memorial Day through Labor Day, each day honoring a person affected by dementia.  She has run 3.069 miles (so far) and has no plans to stop anytime soon!  She is thrilled and honored to serve on the Friends of Wallace Center Board.
